The first
International Black Genealogy
Summit was held in Fort Wayne, Indiana on 29-31 October 2009. The Summit drew nearly
500 registered attendees from across the U.S. and the Caribbean. There
were over 40 sessions featuring many of the more acclaimed
African-American genealogists and family history researchers. The City
of Fort Wayne, Allen County Public Library and the Fort Wayne
African-America community were fantastic hosts. Kudos to them, and also
to the event organizers of the Summit which was Co-Chaired by Alguirre
Wilson of Arizona and Deborah Abbott of Ohio. What a wonderful experience!!!!! And we're
ready to do it again.
