NEWS ITEM - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE May 10, 2007 Black genealogy group meeting... The next meeting of the African American Genealogy Group of the Miami Valley (AAGGMV) will be Saturday, May 26, 1:00 p.m. in the downstairs meeting room of the Xenia public library, 76 East Market St., Xenia, OH 45385. The program will feature speaker, Robert Harris of Yellow Springs, whose topic will be: “Using Deeds for Genealogy.”Mr. Harris is a founder of AAGGMV, a member of its Executive Committee, and editor of The AAGGMV Newsletter. He holds memberships in numerous genealogical organizations including The Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society of Washington, D.C., and The African American Genealogical Society of Northern California. He is a family historian and has helped organize several HARRIS family Reunions.Mr. Harris retired in May 1994 as a supervisory electronics engineer from the Air Force Research Laboratories, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, OH. He holds an M.S. degree in computer science and M.B.A. degree from The University of Dayton. The African American Genealogy Group of the Miami Valley promotes interest in, and adds to the body of knowledge of, African-American genealogy and Black History. This non-profit organization holds monthly meetings throughout the Miami Valley and sponsors speakers who address topics in genealogy, family history, and Black History.
