Black genealogy group meeting...
The next meeting of the African American Genealogy Group of the Miami Valley (AAGGMV) will be
Saturday, June 17, 2006, 10:30 a.m. at the Piqua Historical Area, Indian Museum, 9845 North Hardin Road, Piqua, OH 45356. The Piqua Historical Area includes The Indian Museum, Johnston Farm, and General Harrison canal boat.Attendees will meet at the Indian Museum and view the exhibits (free admission). At 12:00 noon members will assemble for the Harrison Canal boat ride (lasts about 45 minutes) which was the original focus of the meeting. This is part of the Ohio Historical Society-Piqua Historical Area’s package tour, at a cost of $7.00 per person. Boat-ride passengers will gather around “The General Harrison”canal boat for an old-fashion canal boat trip to be followed, upon return, by a tour of the Johnston Farm.
Following the tour, attendees are invited to drive about three miles to the Randolph Settlement of Rossville, OH where a tour of the Randolph Freedman house and museum is located. “The Randolph Freedom Days” celebration, with food and drink available ($5.00 donation) will be a part of the member’s experience.
Except for the $7.00 fee above, the meeting is free and open to the public.
