Saving AAGGMV MyFamily.com Data

ATTENTION AAGGMV MEMBERS!!!! With the Ancestry.com announcement of the discontinuance of their MyFamily.com websites as of September 2014 AAGGMV needs to determine what data/information needs to be 'saved" from our AAGGMV MyFamily.com website. We have information dating back to 2004 that includes, but is not limited to, Photos, PDF files, Address Book, Historical documnents, etc. Looking for suggestions on 1) what should we try to capture 2) where should the captured information be stored and 3) any other considerations. Please post comments/suggestions on the Discussion Forums section of this site.  (Website Commentary & Suggestion Topic)

African American History Projects

The National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) has joined the National Archives and Family Search to create an online, searchable database of former enslaved persons whose names appear in the Freedmen's Bureau Records between 1865-1872.  They are seeking volunteers to help with indexing the records that will form the bulk of the database. Volunteers are wanted to help. If you are interested visit the website: www.nmaahc.si.edu
(click on "Get Iinvolved," then, "Freedsmen's Bureau.")
